Emily Ursuliak writes both fiction and poetry. Her debut collection of poetry, Throwing the Diamond Hitch, won the High Plains Book Award for Poetry. In the past, Emily was the host and producer for the literary radio show Writer’s Block on CJSW. She held a variety of volunteer roles within filling Station magazine (board member, fiction editor and community writing event facilitator), for which she was awarded the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award by the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association. She’s taught creative writing courses through organizations such as the Young Writers' Conference, Alexandra Writers' Centre Society, the WordsWorth Summer Writing Residency and Loft 112. Currently, she lives in Calgary where she works as a librarian for the Calgary Public Library.
